The Undergraduate Scholars Program provides paid undergraduate research opportunities for promising UO students to conduct independent research in a Knight Campus-affiliated lab for a full year, gaining valuable skills and mentorship from top scientists.
Master’s students in the Graduate Internship Program gain real-world skills for science and industry careers through applied coursework, lab experience, and a 9-month paid internship in one of five tracks—bioinformatics, molecular sensors, optics, polymer science, and semiconductors.
Through the interdisciplinary Brewing Innovation Minor, undergraduates from diverse career tracks participate in hands-on brewing projects to develop transferable skills in the scientific method, design thinking, and creative exploration.
The Department of Bioengineering offers a 10-week, fully funded summer undergraduate research opportunity for students from across the US to gain hands-on lab experience for bioengineering careers while collaborating with world-class faculty, graduate students, and fellow undergraduates.
Thanks to two $500 million gifts from Penny and Phil Knight, $80+ million in directed state funds, and gifts from hundreds of donors, the Knight Campus has established the UO as a bioengineering school and top destination for training innovative scientists and rapidly translating research into real-world solutions and products.
