About

Overview

Club Yoga encompasses a wide variety of activities. Primarily, the Club practices a Korean tradition, Dahn Mu Do. Roughly translated, this means “The way of limitless energy”. Our practice focuses on using the energy of the body combined with the intention of the mind to increase flexibility, strengthen muscles, and promote an overall sense of well-being through the mind-body connection.

Practice

The Club meets every Tuesday and Thursday evening in the Student Rec Center, Mat room 77. Practice is roughly from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, although practice may occasionally go later.

Activities

Each club meeting is slightly different; the same thing is never practiced twice in a row. Our club incorporates traditional Hatha Yoga poses as well as a wide variety of other traditions. Occasionally we practice the “martial art” side of the Dahn Mu Do practice. We do energy accumulation activities and even learn to detect and mold our own energies. Sometimes we incorporate dance into our practices; most nights members work up a sweat. Training sincerely is very important, and when you do it, you feel the results!

Attendance

We encourage our members to come to the club as often as they like. You are not required to attend every session. There is no fee for participation in our club. Equipment (like yoga mats) is not necessary - we simply recommend coming in clothes that are comfortable for exercise.

Questions

Our club is very relaxed. Beginners are more than welcome, and we encourage people from all levels of fitness to join us. While some of our practices may be different than what you have experienced in the past, they are fun and better the minds and bodies of all who participate sincerely. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at yoga@uouregon.edu.
