Project Timeline  

December 2003: Fletcher Farr Ayotte, Portland, completed a conceptual study
June 2006: University announces major gift for the project
November 2006: University announced Alumni Center Campaign Committee, and fund raising commended
February 2007: University designated the eastern end of the Franklin Triangle as the project site
March 2007: User Group Appointed
September 2007: Opsis Architecture retained and authorized to conduct Program Confirmation Phase
November 2007: Began Schematic Design
Schematic Design projected to be completed by October 3, 2008

 
Project Summary  

Proposed site:  Project relocated to the northeast corner of the Arena Master Plan area. Property is bordered by E. 13th Avenue and adjacent to Hamilton Residence Hall.

Size: 60,000 gsf of new construction

Legislative Authorization: 2003 Legislature - HB 5028

Expenditure Limitation: (HB 5028) $21,200,000 gifts

Total Project Budget: $30,000,000 (increased authorization will be sought from the Emergency Board)

Architect: Opsis Architecture, Portland

Project Planner: Gene Mowery, Campus Planning and Real Estate, 6-5593

 
Project Description  
The Alumni Center will be the new home for the Alumni Association, UO Foundation, and Development offices. The facility will provide a healthy, collaborative working environment for the departments and will accomodate a variety of meeting and social spaces to serve as a welcoming center for alumni, students, and other friends of the university. It will be a place that tells the university's story in a way that conveys its rich history and traditions along with its creativity, ingenuity, and innovation. It will be a place to showcase alumni, recognize donors, and inspire current and future students.
