About Us

Our primary strengths are in gender, political and economic sociology, and the sociology of the environment. Each year more than 3,000 students enroll in approximately 60 courses offered by the Department of Sociology. The department has about 50 Ph.D. students and 500 undergraduate majors.

Sociology Events

The University of Oregon Sociology Colloquium Series is designed to showcase a broad range of sociological research by bringing in speakers from both sociology and related disciplines such as psychology, education, public policy, women's studies, and ethnic studies.

Colloquia are held on Fridays from 12pm-1:00pm in 714 PLC.
