Please join us for what promises to be the health care policy event of the year. Policy is ever-evolving in this critical sector of the economy as rising costs and declining access force an evolution in the financing and delivery of health care services. On May 22, 2008 the Oregon Economic Forum arrives in Bend for a timely and important discussion of health care initiatives at the national, state and local levels -- initiatives that have the potential to affect all consumers and providers of health care in the state. Highlights of the event include:

  • Barney Speight, Executive Director of the Oregon Health Trust Board, will deliver a progress report on Senate Bill 329.
  • An update on national policy developments, including a report on important initiatives in other states, by JoAnn Lamphere of the AARP.
  • A discussion of Central Oregon health care developments and concerns, featuring Jim Diegel, CEO, Cascade Community Healthcare and Peggy Biss, Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Bank of the Cascades. The panel will be moderated by a representative from The Regence Group.
  • Insights into health policy research at the University of Oregon by Robin McKnight, Assistant Professor of Economics.
  • A welcoming address by Dave Frohnmayer, President of the University of Oregon.
We look forward to your participation in this timely event.
