Josh Wardle

How did you first start playing ultimate?

Doing my undergrad at university in the UK.  I saw some guys playing and
asked to join in.  I could throw a forehand thumber.  I thought I was the
shit.

What was your first tournament?

A beginners tournament in Hyde park.  I wore sneakers.  I went to the hole
often.

Who is the best player you've had to defend?

Probably North Americans.  Zip, Dylan Tunnell, John Hassell and some UK
based yanks including Rob Alpen and Adam Holt.  Frenchman Nasser M'bae also
blows up huge.

How does practice in the states differ from practice in the UK?

I'd say the general standard here is a lot higher as well as athleticism.
Also people in British ultimate don't use choice phrases such as 'blows up
huge' or 'going to the hole'.

What do you hope to get out of playing for Oregon?

The popularity of Aaron Bell and more choice phrases.

What is the dumbest thing you've seen in British ultimate?

My first tournament for my club team Clapham I saw the disc go up out of the
corner of my eye.  I turned, sprinted and got the sickest layout D ever.  It
then transpired the disc had been thrown by someone on the sideline and play
was still going on 30 metres (32.8 yards) downfield.  That was pretty dumb.
And I saw it first hand.
