The mission of the Museum of Natural and Cultural History is to enhance public knowledge of the natural history and anthropology of Oregon and the broader world. Designed to incorporate the art and style of the rich Native American culture in Oregon, the museum houses exhibits exploring the archaeology and fossil history of Oregon, animals, plants, environmental topics, and traditional human cultures. Each year, the museum provides opportunities for students, as well as faculty and staff members to participate in archaeological digs throughout Oregon. The museum is home to a saber-toothed cat and the world's oldest pair of shoes.
